Objective

A large mining and metallurgical company approached us with a request to find a sales manager for rolled metal products. It was necessary to find a candidate with 3-5 years of experience at major players in the rolled metal market (manufacturers, metallurgical plants).

Challenges

  • A new role, with no prior expertise in this field.

  • Change of location and salary reduction during the search process. Initially, the search was conducted in Moscow, but after sending the first shortlist of candidates, the client paused the process for 2 weeks due to internal changes. Subsequently, the search had to be conducted in Yekaterinburg with a lower salary.

  • The compensation structure differs from what is typical in the market (no percentage of sales/shipment volume).

  • High KPIs for candidates — signing 10 contracts during the probation period (after probation, expanding to 20 active contracts), which led candidates to reject the offer.

Solution

  • Provided the client with 5 candidate CVs.

  • The client scheduled an interview with 1 candidate, to whom they then made an offer.

  • The candidate selected by the client was found on hh.ru.

Final Result

The first successfully closed vacancy for the client! The candidate ended up in a marketing manager role, as the company is a representative office that does not conduct commercial activities within the Russian Federation, while the production is located in Kazakhstan.
